The McGraw Symposium: How Digital Native Sites Are Reshaping Business Journalism (Newsroom)

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This year marks the inaugural McGraw Symposium, a new feature of SABEW's annual fall conference at CUNY. The symposium will explore the rapid rise of the digital native sites and how they are reshaping business journalism. We'll look at why new players such as Quartz, Business Insider and Re/code are growing rapidly, what their strengths — and weaknesses — are compared with traditional media and most importantly, what does their increasing popularity mean for business journalism? The panel will be moderated by Jane Sasseen, executive director of CUNY’s McGraw Center for Business Journalism, which is sponsoring the evening program.

The McGraw Center was established in January 2014 at the CUNY J-School to enhance the quality and depth of business news coverage. Through the McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism, the Center offers financial and editorial support for deeply reported investigative and enterprise stories on important business and economic issues. It also provides training, and funds scholarships and internships for J-School students who concentrate in business reporting.
